Remember - Genie+ is just FastPass re-packaged and not pre-bookable. FastPass was available to everyone for free. So why is Genie+ any different?
DDP has been free for US, Canadian and Brazilian guests every year but the offers and dates vary.

I am still going ahead though. It is a dream holiday and we don’t get to go often. The magic is still there for me, and we’ll be there for the 50th anniversary.

About the Genie, I think best to hang tight. It is not rolled out just as yet. I am sure by the time it goes alive (my money is by the October celebrations) and it goes through the stress test of Christmas and New Year, there will be more info and plenty of Disney specialists who WILL extract the best way round this system. May is quite a while away.
One very important line there in your post - "It is a dream holiday and we don’t get to go often. ".

For those planning a special trip then these things are just another part of the budget / planning.

Those who visit regularly will always notice changes - better or worse - and unfortunately there have been more in latter category recently.

It's a bit like football clubs. Season ticket holders will always find plenty to moan about as they are there all the time. A tourist making a one off visit to watch a game probably wouldn't notice the things that annoy the Season Ticket Holders.

Don't let this put you off, I'm sure you will have a great time.

Thank you so much for the kind words! I always thought a Disney Holiday goes beyond just the 2-3 weeks there. Planning and dreaning is half the plan. For me it’s like a year-long present I get to peel apart and play with. I am sure it will be wonderful however it turns out.

I disagree. The primary reason that the vast majority of people pay the best part of £500 for their park tickets is primarily for the rides and the attractions. Whether you have Memory Maker or DDP and have paid for them or got them free does not directly impact on how you use/access the primary facilities you’re there for. Genie+ absolutely does so can’t be considered ancillary.

I understand it is mostly for the ride and attractions, but it doesn't affect the ride and attractions, they are still exactly the same, you just have to wait in the standby line. A lot of people didn't even know or make use of fastpass+

Weve book Disney for next year n tge price us roughly what we paid in 2020 although was cancelled n similar to 2018 n 2019 so I have no complaints, flights more currently but that's not disneys fault, I'm not happy with the loss of perks but we hire a car so dont really use ME much, have about 40 magic bands, it's mainly free dining for us but we have credits n gift card so not all bad

You can still experience every attraction whether or not you have Genie+, the only difference is how long you wait (which by definition makes it ancillary). Ultimately there's no difference in this being included vs. any other included perk. Let's be deal - we're paying for it whether it's an upcharge or included. Same as DDP and Memory Maker. It will always be net positive for Disney.

After looking at flight pricing for Easter 2022, we are seriously considering if not just Disney, but any Florida holiday is justifiable anymore.

We are DVC members, without that, it wouldn’t even be a consideration for an annual holiday.

Well we had Disney tickets for next year in hand and have now exchanged them for the unlimited DC tickets and Universal ones for the costly sum of £10 extra ! The loss of FP was just the final nail for us. Disney is costing so much more now of day’s we just can’t justify it. My 2 teenagers prefer the rides at Universal & Seaworld and the added bonus of no parking at either is more spending money as well 😂

That’s great if you like what Universal has to offer. Unfortunately I hardly go on anything there, and we are done with it in 2 days. Darn you Mr Mouse!
