Thanksgiving Dinner

Is anyone going to be making their own version of a Thanksgiving Dinner?

We've done this a couple of times now and I thought it might be nice to share recipes and ideas.

Hey Abby, yes we do like to have a Thanksgiving dinner (I like it as a practice run for Christmas Day!). I would love to share recipe ideas and table settings.

Ah my love language! I have been very much hoping that you'll do a Christmas Food thread again this year but this shall keep me occupied in the meantime.

I have been planning pre-occupied with planning Christmas so I haven't given much thought to Thanksgiving planning this year, although I did pick up 2 tins of pumpkin puree last week.

Last year we had the Pioneer Woman's Caramel Pumpkin Gingersnap Cheesecake, it was fab:

This is the Cheesy Green Bean Casserole I do every year:

Excited to see everyone's plans.

I’m in Florida for Thanksgiving and been invited to friend on the condition I make Trifle
I’ll be eating deep fried turkey don’t knock it till you’ve tried it amazing moist etc
I always buy stove top stuffing for our Christmas turkey ( yep,I mix it with sage sausage meat and onion and stuff the turkey )
I buy a couple of tins of cranberry sauce when I’m out ( I do make my own ) for other turkey dinners , cherry pie filling I love it and I’ve a great not for the food conscious pumpkin loaf recipe so a couple of tins of pumpkin purée are on the shopping list
It’s a no fail recipe honest and as easy as pie as they say if you can get pumpkin purée

I found this Pumpkin Spice Mix at M&S and picked up the tinned pumpkin off Amazon.

Collybird I remember your feast from last year, I can’t wait to see what everyone makes.

I'm glad you are all on board.

I was looking on Amazon for pumpkin puree as can't get it in shops round here.

I'm going to try a pumpkin pie recipe today as I have some leftover from halloween, I'll make my own pastry but use this recipe for the filling.

Does anyone have a recipe for cornbread? Or is this going to be more hassle than it's worth to make due to difficulty finding ingredients?

I just read through the cheesecake recipe and it looks delicious, it's on my list!

To get us in a festive American mood I may try to do a thanksgiving dinner this year!

I actually have a cornbread mix that I got from America in the cupboard so I might finally get that out !

This is a great recipe for cornbread - use it all the time. I use polenta instead of cornmeal.

I was thinking a cornbread mix might be the way to go, but this looks great. Thank you for sharing the link. My parents are coming for the thanksgiving dinner and they still talk about the Hoop Dee Do dinner we had, mostly because of my dad getting serenaded to, but I remember that delicious cornbread and I soooo want to have it again.

Oh and thanks for the tip about using polenta instead as the other ingredients are all things we have in the larder.
