Former Winn Dixie, Formosa Gardens

Anyone know what replaced Winn Dixie at Formosa Gardens please?
Used to love popping in here ❤️

Same here! We went every holiday, even if it was just to get the cinnamon toothpaste. Think I can remember something about it belongs to the margaritaville resort?

Unfortunately there’s been no replacement, it’s empty.

The only link to Margaritaville is that the owner of the Formosa Shopping Center, Formosa Winery and all the other cleared but vacant land in that area, also used to own the land that the Margaritaville cottages are built on. The shopping center that is connected to the resort is the much newer Sunset Walk one around the corner on 192.

The former Winn Dixie Marketplace is still completely empty because he won't let any prospective new tenants change the Chinese themed interior. Obviously the money he is losing in rent means nothing to him. His family was also involved in the development of most of the housing at the northern end of Formosa Gardens Boulevard back in the 80's. He must be worth millions.

We have plenty of other supermarkets and it was a tourist rip off place so not really missed by me. But I do feel sorry for the other tenants of the plaza as they deserve an anchor store to bring in customers.

We love staying at Formosa. We are there again in May. I’m not surprised it shut it always seemed empty but we discovered a Walmart not far from Formosa Gardens a five minute drive away.

Yes, Walmart is not too far away now and we love Walmart. Also Target is close by too.
Walmart does get very very busy though (especially the car park) so always used to pop to Winn Dixie for small items (and awesome fruit selection) 😁

Publix at Orange Lake across from Target is your best bet for an uncrowded supermarket.
