When we moved to our current home we had 2 cars and a van which all fitted on the drive but was a pain when DH was getting up at 3am for work and when we had visitors.
We decided to have half the garden block paved and then a few months later we had the drive done to match. We do have a dropped kerb but still have issues with people parking across when visiting next door You can just see a small piece of next doors drive on the right and their visitors van across our drive Edited at 02:03 PM. |

They’re such a good company and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them.
They’ve done most of the driveways on our estate and I haven’t heard a single complaint.

Indeed, over the years we have had workmen's vans, building materials actually parked and left on our drive for next door. Plus a few use the drive as a full turning point rather than the bend on the road which is plenty big enough.

When we did our work in 2019 we looked at all the options and ended up with brick pavers. We didn't want black so that ruled out tarmac and asphalt.
We liked the look at resin, but couldn't get convinced on the longevity and had seen numerous installations where areas had broken up. I guess this could have been poor workmanship. Pavers are a known quantity and last decades with one proviso - that they are laid by a specialist that knows what they are doing and installs the right base layers. This will avoid drops. Pavers in our last house were over 25 years down and still looker perfect. |

We had a tarmac driveway done, with concrete edging then a course of brick paver edgings. The brick pavers have stopped it looking like a carpark. Also no need for drainage as they used an open texture tarmac, this lets the water drain through. Its been down for 4 years now and still looks like new. Its easily big enough for 2 cars, with plenty of room to walk around, all four sides. They also lifted and took away the old drive, dug out to the proper depth, filled with hardcore, tarmac then a top coat of tarmac. Cost £3,300. The drop kerb was already done.
