We flew from Honolulu to lax in 2018 and I’m sure there was some kind of luggage tracking system on the airlines app. Don’t know how it worked but I remember thinking what a good idea it was. I could see that our luggage was off the plane and being loaded to the luggage belts.
We flew American Airlines. |

Amazon often sell their Tile device on offer. I got them in December for about £13 to use for my car keys but they would work equally as well tucked in a suitcase I imagine

I admire your optimism. As my friend recently experienced it is more the case that you will at least know where your luggage is lost. His case, rather than going to USA, went to Singapore. He was able to tell the airline where his case was (as they couldn't) but they still, to date, can't locate it.

Has anyone used apple tags or tiles for things like keys? I’ve read mixed reviews with how accurate they are at locating them

I recently got a couple of Apple Airtags - the plan is to use them for my wallet and my work access cards/keys, as I always get worried about whether I might have left these two things behind even though I rarely do so in reality!
So far it seems accurate enough for my purposes. But I do live in a densely populated city helps with the accuracy of the Airtags. (From what I've read, Airtags are located by nearby iPhones. So in a city there will be lots of iPhones floating around making it easy to locate Airtags, whereas in somewhere more rural there may not be any iPhones nearby which will make it hard to locate Airtags.)

I have an account with ReboundTAG. I don't have one of their Tags, but do have a paper print out (with my unique code on it) that goes in the front pocket of my suitcase, so when found they can contact ReboundTAG who then contact me; think I got it free with the Gatwick email a few years ago.

I have the airtags and use them for luggage, keys, purse and backpack. Been really impressed with them. Told me my luggage was at heathrow before it came out on the carousel. Thinking of getting more, will get them in US though as works out cheaper.

How accurate are they? If I’ve buried my keys under a pile of paper in my house and I’m rummaging around for them, will it just tell me they’re in my house or would it help me get close to them?

I started to take part in the BA Harrier Project, a GPS bag tracker, in December 2019 and all went well until March 2020 when the world (and the trial) came to a halt.
