School hols

If you had to pick easter or summer hols...which would you pick and why?

This is for 2023... we've never done summer and the heat makes me nervous but I imagine crowds would be better.

If summer where in the 6wks hols would you choose?

We can't have any time off school (u now work in a school)

Last 2 weeks of August. Simple. Apparently best time in Summer to go.

If I had to choose, I'd probably go with Easter. I'd rather have crowds than heat. But it would depend how much overlap with spring break there is. You can get one of the weeks that aren't too bad crowd wise if there's enough gap after spring break. But Easter week itself is very busy.

End of August is the best crowds wise, as the US schools have mostly gone back already so there's a big dip in the overall crowds. Too hot and stormy for me though.

I've only ever gone in summer hols due to both me and DH working in schools. We've always gone late July it was never an issue as we always had fast pass. Also Americans are better organised with the heat. All indoor attractions are air-conditioned. Shops are all air-conditioned.

Think it depends on when Easter actually is in your break.

We went for Easter in 2017 and returned on Good Friday. Was absolutely perfect as schools were off in the two weeks run up and we managed to snag the free dining by going 2 days before they broke up.

If Early in April it can be busy from a US holiday (can't remember which, Spiring Break?) but we'd just missed by travelling 29th March.

Last 2 weeks in August. Weather manageable, crowds better as their schools have gone back.

Last two weeks of August would be my preference. We were nervous of the heat and humidity but having been in February when there were huge crowds but easier weather I'd choose end of August every time. You adapt very quickly to the heat and can get much more done with less people around.

Crowds are manageable in Easter, but better in Aug, especially the later you can go

Weathers much better at Easter, again later in Aug is better but it can be pretty crazy hot in July/early Aug

If it's 2 weeks then go at Easter, or right as late as possible in Aug
If it's 3 weeks then it's still the same answer, just Easter would mean taking a week into school time

Have been in both and would pick Easter, although we’ve been in the summer more often. The weather is far less of a factor to work around at Easter and back in days of FP I never really felt the crowds were vastly different at Easter.
