Magic tickets are the new UK tickets, replaced Ultimates. The only real difference is they can be used over 18 days instead of 14 (technically 15) so good for stretching over 3 week holidays if you don't mind missing a few days.
You can buy any number of days from 1-10 from the US Disney site. It's only the UK tickets that are fixed to 7/14 days. Use a third party site like Undercover Tourist to be able to easily see all the pricing options, but the 3 day base (no park hopping) ticket is around £280 depending on dates. |

Even before the pandemic the price increases on the APs were making 2x UK tickets not that much different to the APs. The thing that was making it worthwhile still was the included parking. The more recent price changes on APs eroded that even more.
Obviously this is deliberate and a policy because Disney know that most AP holders spend less in the parks than other guests (I wouldn’t expect that to be the case with AP holders from the UK, certainly wasn’t the case with us, but that is a tiny minority of AP holders). The other factor now, as long as the park reservation system is in place, is that APs can only hold 5 park reservations. This seems (far too) risky to me for a 2-3 week trip as you could be limited to those 5 days if the parks were booked up for the other days of your trip by the time you could book more (which would be when you’re there). This was the main bit that made me hesitate when APs were on sale last year, and I hesitated long enough that sales of new APs were pulled again, forcing our hands when it came to which tickets to get. But ultimately, we would probably have chosen not to go with AP for the reasons of park reservations. Since then, we are lucky enough to be in a position to have booked a couple of more trips this year, so APs would make much more sense in terms of pure cost. The 5 day reservation limit would still make me hesitate, mind.
