Mobile New kitchen - warming drawer?

At long last DH and I have decided on a builder to do our extension and things are getting going. Part of the build will be a new kitchen and I’m looking to add a warming drawer. Just wondering, apart from the obvious task of warming plates, what else can you do with them? Thanks

You can prove bread too. My friend uses hers all the time to make bread and all kinds of things but I have only ever used mine to store baking trays and cake tins.

I love my warming drawer for warming plates and keeping dinners warm. I also use it for keeping any meat I’m defrosting away from my cats! 😂🙈

Bread is the thing I was hoping people would say. I love making my own and loaves are easy, and I’d love to do more rolls but find proving them a pain as I don’t have suitable warm places that I can leave the dough.

Thanks for the reply 👍

I don’t have pets right now but it would be a good place to hide stuff from hubby!

It would be perfect for you then. My friend would not be without hers for proving bread.

Definitely go for a warming drawer... it is literally one of the most used things in our kitchen.

I hate cold plates, so that means it is used practically every day. I also use it to defrost food, keep plated food warm, prove bread, it keeps cooked food warm as you cook the rest of a dinner, and it can be used as a slow cooker (if the high temperature is high enough).

I would think that the smaller warming drawer would not be big enough for dough proving, and it could get very messy! Definitely get the large size one.

That’s really helpful thanks ! Is 14cm the large one? that’s the only size in the Howdens brochure so nothing to compare and I haven’t checked the likes of AO yet

We had one installed when we put our kitchen in. Needed a 150mm appliance to fill a gap. Haven't used it a single time.
