You don't have to buy genie plus, it is up to you. But if you do want to buy it you need to be on the dot at 7am to get the popular rides

You need to be up early and quick to get one or two of the most popular Genie+ passes, like Slinky Dog, but you won’t need to for most others.

Some of the Individual Attractions that you can pay for also run out quickly, Rise of the Resistance in particular.

Apparently there one where where you pay 15 dollars a day and one where you pay for each ride….how does that work. Do you need to put a CC over. Is there. Simple you tube video I can watch that you can recommend.

It is not that there are two versions of Genie+, there is just one version and it will allow you to book lightning lanes (subject to availability) to many rides in the park.

Some rides /attractions do not have lightening lanes at all, just as some rides never had fastpass, e.g. the carousel, and you need to queue for these.

There are also two rides in each park which are not available on Genie+ and for these you either have to wait in the standby line of you purchase a pass for that specific ride. These are the most in demand rides and include Flight of Passage and Rise if the Resistance for example.

You attach a payment card to your account to pay for the rides or the Genie+, unless you pre purchase that through your travel agent.

If you’re buying Genie+ you can purchase it after midnight and before 7 am on the day you’re buying it for so you’re ready to start booking with everyone else at 7 am.

The system isn’t exactly intuitive and takes a few minutes to purchase, plus we had a few glitches with it defaulting my mobile number to a US number every morning and me having to correct it so it wasn’t invalid.

I would definitely recommend making sure you have purchased Genie+ before 7 am so that you can start booking when the ride slots open.

Regarding prepaid cards, I saw someone on another thread a few weeks ago said they had linked a prepaid card but someone else said they hadn’t been able to. So it might be trial and error whether you can or have to resort to a debit card.
