Male or female puppy

It is almost a year since we lost our Springer Bonnie and I think I am ready for another dog, my DH isn’t so keen but that’s because he has mobility issues due to sciatica and wouldn’t be able to help out with a wee pup.
Anyway, we have previously had 2 bitches, both Springers, but would probably go for a smaller breed and one which wasn’t so lively - we aren’t getting any younger!
My question is - Are dogs or bitches easier to house break and train. I appreciate males don’t come into season but at the same time I’m not sure if I would like the leg lifting IYKWIM.
A friend told me male dogs were more biddable than bitches. Has anyone had experience of both male & females who has any advice.

We have dogs and bitches
The two dogs are laid back all the time the 3 girls one is the other two are stubborn as anything
As for house training I’d say no difference
It’s 3 frenchies a staffie and a Visla

You’ll get a spilt here.

Some love girls, some love boys.

I’m a boy fan! I’ve always found my boy dogs to be calmer and more loving than the girls!

Goes for children as well 🤣

It’s definitely personal preference.

I too am a boy fan, although I’d have both.

My boy is incredibly loving, he’s so soppy and likes to be with us, cuddling us all the time. He was very easy to train, he’s a Labrador so very food orientated. He’s also very biddable and likes being a good boy. He doesn’t always manage it, but loves praise.

He does cock his leg, but that doesn’t bother me at all.

We have 4 Border Terriers, 3 bitches and 1 dog. The dog is much more laid back and more obedient. The girls are much more stubborn and needy😂

We have a boy Cockapoo who is almost two. He is super sweet and very chilled (unlike all the girl Cockapoos that we know!) and very loving. He was super easy to toilet train but he still pees like a lady.

We have a shih poo dog and he is so loving. He is 6 months now and started doing the leg lifting to pee. When I take out my mams shih tzu dog it’s a peeing competition always peeing on top of each other 😂.

He was really easy to toilet train, didn’t take long at all. He was also easy to train , although this is ongoing, we attended puppy classes.

I don’t have anything else to compare him with though as our first puppy.

Appreciate all your posts - I was leaning towards another girl but now I feel I definitely won’t discount a wee boy. Now I will get to pick the cutest one - regardless of gender.
Will have to wait another month or so as we are away overnight in a few weeks so can’t do anything before then.
