Same! My male cockapoo is very calm and chilled (except if left alone) but good lord the girls cockapoo’s I’ve met (& a close friend has one) are crazy! I’m sure it’s also a personality thing as well as breed as mine is exceptionally chilled but I think all his energy goes into been very aggrieved if I leave the house without him.

Interesting - a cockapoo is top of my list followed by a cocker. More votes for a boy then.

I would just add that we lost our 13 year old November 2020, got our new pup in October 2021 and oh boy it was a hard first few weeks. Our old girl was so calm and loving, well behaved even as a pup. The new one Romy was a whole different ball game and I was really regretting getting her for the 1st couple of weeks so be prepared to goi g back to the baby stage, would you consider an older dog if it's really only you do the looking after? I was overwhelmed at first, but now she is a much loved member of the family xx

Cockers are a lovely breed. The girl ones I know though whilst lovely friendly dogs, are a bit more highly strung. Whereas the boys can be a bit more stubborn and wilful. I’d defo say more challenging than my lab.

I only know one cockerpoo who is a little boy. He’s only 5 months old though so early to tell really. He’s noisier and bossier than my lab. But house trained beautifully and is also incredibly loving

Going against the grain here but we have a girl cockapoo, she is the most obedient and sweetest dog in the world! She is super friendly and is a bit mad when we are out and she sees people/dogs but super chilled at home.
We have such an amazing bond, she doesn’t lie on my lap she lies on my chest! It’s lucky she’s still quite small lol! she is such a lovely dog we all adore her!

Always had bitches, totally depends on the dog re training. However as I get older I favour my grass so would get a boy if we had another dog.

Just want to shamelessly plug my beautiful Irish mini doodle boy! 🥰🥰🥰
He is the calmest, easiest dog we have ever come across and absolutely adorable.

We have a 5 month old male cockerpoo that we got at 8 weeks from a rescue - he is lovely and friendly but absolutely playfully mad when he’s around another dog, our daughter has a 6 month old bitch and she does have an off switch and is more cuddly. They are both adorable but completely different personalities. Our boy also looks like a cocker whereas she is more poo.

I am aware that the first few weeks will be difficult & that’s why I haven’t jumped before now. Bonnie was a dreadful dog to house break (unlike her predecessor) so I know how difficult it can be.
Don’t want an older dog for several reasons but after my sons experience wont even consider it. He & my DIL took on a dog which owners couldn’t keep as their jobs had changed. From the start the dog attacked my son and then started the same with my DIL. They contacted the previous owners to take it back - when they arrived the woman was so pleased to see it, gave it a cuddle & it promptly bit her.
Other friends took on an elderly relatives dog & spent a fortune on vet bills, the dog died a few months later!
