It was £220 for what we needed when we priced up this years trip in Nov... Now it's £500! Not changed in weeks. (Even clearing cookies, cache etc using Work's PC / MacBook / iPhones / Home PC).
Really regret not booking it when I saw it. Think the earache I now get from the missus is worse than the current price... |

Saw this thread and looked into it... originally had a standard SUV for £233 for 11 days... checked on Alamo Brits and it had gone down £60 so worth cancelling... which I just did... went straight back into Alamo Brits... price is now £290... have I done something wrong... should I have booked the lower price first and then cancelled my original booking?

What you say about currency isn't true about Brits bookings. When you lock the price in £'s that will be what you are charged after conversion regardless of what happens to the exchange rate.
Example - Brits booking is £100, exchange rate is (for ease of working) 2-1 you'll be charged $200. If the exchange rate then drops to 1.50 - 1.00, you will be charged $150 for your booking therefore still paying £100. |

If you pre-pay and you subsequently find the price has gone down, what do you do? Think I read somewhere that you don't cancel but amend. Now this is probably a dumb question, but how do you amend if your details, car, dates, etc are exactly the same? Ta

Just change either the pick up or drop off time by 30 minutes and you would get the refund due to the lower price!
