Today 11 February 2011 will see Walt Disney World close Mickey's Toontown Fair to make way for the expansion of Fantasyland in the Magic Kingdom.

Today is the final day of operation for Toontown Fair which is the home for meet and greets with Mickey and his pals and the Goofy Barnstormer roller coaster.

Disney says it will move characters in the area to new locations. Mickey, Minnie Mouse and Disney's stable of animated princesses will continue to meet guests at various locations in the Magic Kingdom before moving into a new permanent home this spring in the building currently known as Town Square Exposition Hall along Main Street, USA.

Tinker Bell, meanwhile, will be shipped to Disney's Hollywood Studios. The rest of the company's animated fairies will reappear this spring in Epcot.

Real shame for me as every trip I take a photo of DD in the same place as a 'timeline' of our trips. Its great to see how she has changed over the years!

I am so sad! I really wanted to do Minnies house when I went this time as we randomly missed it last time!

I am sure they will replace it with some awesome stuff though!

No, it is being rebranded with Goofy as "The Great Goofini" and will open as part of the expansion.

I'm sure the new stuff will be great, but I feel, as I'm sure many others do, a bit sad. With my two now well into their teens the lovely memories of them wandering around Toon Town, jaws on the floor in wonderment at the whole thing, are ones I treasure.

I may have to get the old videos out of the girls at 6 and 4 wandering around Mickey's House.
