Nope, the little baby pool is gone now i'm afraid.

The Grand Reef was teeming with life though, we had to tread carefully to make sure we didnt step on anything in the shallows.

I noticed as it got busier in the afternoon the fish retreated to the deeper water a little.

Hi Guys

Have only just come back to to the Dibb since we returned from Florida three weeks ago. Post Disney blues meant I couldn't face it til now!

Just wanted to let you all know about my experience. Me and my son (who is 10) did SeaVenture on June 12th and it was absolutely fantastic.

We got to experience it on the first day that they had properly opened it up to the public (although soft opening had been happening for some time)

We didn't get charged extra, it was included in the DC ticket price. The staff at check in didn't mention it so I brought it up with them and they said to head straight over to the SeaVenture cabana. We did and were told no problem, come back in 30 mins.

We rushed down our breakfast and headed over. We had a thorough safety video presentation and full briefing from the staff, signed a disclaimer and then got going.

The helmets are heavy, that is what weighs you down in the water. There are underwater scuba staff with you at all times and you are given hand signals which are used to indicate you are ok.

To be honest, I was a slightly nervous but my 10 year old just got straight in with no hesitation so I couldn't let him show me up!

Once you are under the water it is a strange sensation at first. The helmet just rests on your shoulders so as longs as you keep your head upright you can breathe fine.

When all of the party are under you start walking along the bottom. It is fine sand so you don't need water shoes. You walk past the shark area (they're behind glass.. phew!) and then have lots of lovely colourful fish around you. The scuba guys bring you sea urchins to hold and he also has an 'etch a sketch' type wristpad so you can write any questions down you want to ask him.

Then food is released so the fish are swimming all around you. We were underneath for about 10 minutes. Of course there are the obligatory photographers taking your pic but you are also given an underwater camera so you can take your own snaps which you can then buy.

The whole experience was fantastic. It wasn't claustrophobic at all. The staff were fantastic and took time to explain everything in detail so I felt really safe at all times, even watching my sons head disappear under the water before I got in!

I would really recommend it to anyone who wanted to give it a go :-)

I am thinking that perhaps that yours was free as its only 10 minutes?

Does anyone know how long the SeaVenture underwater walk lasts for?

So far in this thread there's been mentions of 60 minutes, 30 minutes, 10 minutes - does anyone know which one it is?

Also, did you do anything to get the free trek, or could that be still some kind of soft-opening still, and it's $59 now?

It sounds like an interesting experience, but it would be nice to know exactly what you got for your money/for free.

Im really looking forward to it cant wait to see my sons face, he's really got into fish
Hi Madaboutmickey,

If your son is into fish and you want a day out, take him also to Legoland Windsor and on the new Atlantis ride, our daughter Carole is a fish specialist there, and her love of fish started at DC 10 years ago. They have rays, 3 types of sharks and many other fish.

Hi

The sea venture lasts around 10 minutes underwater. If you go down first then it's slightly longer. We paid $60 for the experience.
