Quite rude? Maybe, but I am happy to admit it.

You said you would not use the service because you was worried for your families safety. This is an objection, the objection was easily overcome by pointing out that it is a whole lot safer than pulling a random cab fro a cab stand. Despite this you still maintain that you will not use them, the only reasons being must be the ones you are denying.

Do you download the Uber app or a specific one for Orlando?

i just downloaded the generic Uber app. had a bit of a faf about with it and it seems to be giving me an estimate now though

also, i was going to ask (sorry OP for butting in!) what are the rules of Uber taxi's and disney resorts? are they allowed to drop off and pick up on site or does it have to be off site? i remember reading somewhere that the person got charged $15 (or something to that extent) for the uber taxi coming into the resort...

I have read that most Uber drivers have an AP to allow them to enter the resorts, or they just say they are picking a friend up.

On the way back, you can show the guard at the gate your MB and they'll let you in.

Every time we used them they just said they were picking up/dropping off and the people on the gates were fine.

Cost us different amounts each time, but I've just logged into our account and here's what we paid:-

French Quarter to Walmart Vineland Rd - $15.13
Walmart Vineland Rd to French Quarter - $8.02
French Quarter to Universal - $19.73
Universal to Downtown Disney - $12.17
French Quarter to Universal - $14.34
Universal to Downtown Disney - $12.43
French Quarter to Florida Mall - $18.86
Florida Mall to French Quarter - $15.87

I refuse to drive in holiday as I don't want the stress or worry whilst I'm at the happiest place on earth, so for that reason we use taxis and buses. Mears are over priced compared to taxis that are parked up at the walmart, and on two occasions I felt our lives had been in danger as the driving was that bad. Looking forward to trying uber next year.

It's been between 13 and 15 dollars per journey for us, going from various parts of WDW back to universal.

They are allowed to pick up and drop off at all the WDW parks no problem, we,ve done just that at every park except HS over the past few days.
