is it necessary to book for buffets?

Hi,

It is predicted to be busy when we are in DLP (midweek the last week in June. The high crowds seems to be confirmed by the availability for online booking for the Agrabah Café: there is scant availability on the online booking system for the three days we are there in comparison to the prior or the following weeks).

we are mainly wanting to go to buffets due to faddy children (plus this is a last minute booking so the restaurant selections are largely gone). We are staying at the Sequoia and happy to eat there. So my question is will we struggle to get a table if we don't book as I would rather go with the flow, if possible, than be beholden to pre-ordained times that I have randomly selected now, especially as you can never tell when children will get tired etc. So basically is booking a necessity?

Also, same question for the buffalo bill show, in your experience can you make your mind up on the day?

Thanks in advance.

I think at that time of year I wouldn't risk not having a booking as it can be very busy and the wait for a table (with hungry children) will really cut your park time down!

Why not play it safe and have a booking, but if you can get a walk-up on the day then you can cancel?

In-park buffets are busy around lunch time so if you can go early or late, that helps.

I have never tried to get a walk up for Buffalo Bill’s but if you do, don’t pay for the dearer seats. The cheaper ones are just as good and further from the dust.

Arrive early enough to enjoy the entertainment in the bar before the show.

I agree with Gill. I’d make bookings, but then cancel them if you can get other restaurants / times that fit better with your day while you’re there. We’ve done that before, and it hasn’t been a problem at all. You’re not exactly tied to your chosen times, but it’s good to know they’re there if everywhere is packed out and you don’t want to spend hours waiting for a table.

I couldn't book times we wanted for various hotels when we went in March a 2 years ago - so i wouldn't risk it in June. It's crazy how busy the places get at your usual eating times and i heard a lot of people being turned away at places.

Thanks for the advice everyone. I have booked our reservations tonight. I thought you were locked in once you'd booked and didn't realise you could cancel.
