Hertz - Crowne Plaza Universal Blvd

We are due to pick up our car hire up from Crowen plaza hotel on Universal Blvd and I have just read the small print, it says you have to be a guest to use this hertz location but we are not staying at this hotel. I have tried to amend the booking but it says I have to cancel and rebook giving a $269 price hike!
Question is do you think it will be a problem when we pick the car up not being a gust? has anyonr else done this?

If it was me, i would play the system, i would book 1 night at the hotel on free cancellation by 1pm the same day or even for the following day (thats if you can) and turn up to collect the car at say 9am, if they questioned anything, you can just say you have not checked in to the hotel yet as check in time is 3pm - show the booking ref if needed to them.

Collect the car and then cancel the room booking driving off into the distance.

Of course, do what you feel is right

Out of interest where does it say you need to be a hotel guest to use that rental location? Even if it did, I really don't think it will be an issue at all: all you need to pick up a car is your credit card and driving licence, not a hotel reservation? I would just send Hertz an enail via the contact us or do a webchat and ask if concerned. Absolutely no point booking a night there IMO, just a hassle to remember to cancel in time.

I also wonder where you would have read that. There is no way a rental desk would survive in such a dense tourist area with so much competition around if they were restricting themselves to just hotel guests.

Just read the T&C pre booking and can not see anywhere where it details resort guests only.

I phoned Hertz today to put an extra day on the rental but was told I could only do it at the pick up location as they need a hotel reservation code

I think that means it's not available for walk ups. It's ok for car collections though, think they're being awkward by not allowing you to make alterations beforehand. I often modify my booking with them when I see that the price has gone down for my rental period. Does your booking not give you the option to modify rather than cancel and start again?

I've used Hertz around a dozen times and find them by far the best rental company to deal with... normally.

No, it tells me I have to cancel and rebook, I think it has something to do with the fact I booked it last October and it is now £230 dearer

are you wanting to cancel it so you can book it from else where or are you trying to amend the pick up date ?

or wanting to amend it because of the hotel guest policy ?
