Anyone understand what it actually is ? Seems like it's going to be the UK's rival to Netflix , I'm convinced that it's a way to get money out of those of us who use the BBC Iplayer and ITV Hub, all I can find out about it is for a monthly subscription it will give you lots of archived shows and new shows that will be exclusive to BritBox. I watch lots of programmes and box sets that are on the various players , I hope it's not going to be the end of being able to watch these programmes without having to pay a subscription .

From what I heard on the radio it's going to boxes of series that you can pay again for the privelidge of watching. I could be wrong but that was the gospel according to Nick Ferrari.

not sure how popular it will be in the uk. i know i'm not gonna pay a fiver a month to access old episodes of only fools and horses!

what they *should* have done is not cancelled project kangaroo 10 years ago, and made it free (or heavily discounted) for people with a tv licence.

it was basically iplayer, itvplayer and 4od merged into a single content portal/app.

instead, murdoch and friends complained to their mates at the competition commission saying "there was a danger that the platform could be too powerful"

murdoch went on to launch nowtv a few years later, and has a 6+ year headstart over britbox.

the remnants of the dead kangaroo technology got bought by a commercial entity and became the short lived "seesaw" product

britbox - its a nice idea, but 10 years too late.
