That looks like the Europe App, I have both apps on my android and that is what I see on the Europe app

The Europe app is called Avis car hire
The US app is just called Avis

When you look at them on your device

Never heard of APK before today, but it says some could be harmful. Is there an easy way to check please?

An APK is the package of an app, just bypassing the Google Play Store.



There is always a risk of a non approved app being harmful, (ie - downloading some homemade app) but generally speaking, downloading a app produced by a mainstream company is ok but there is always an element of risk.)

What you are doing here is downloading an app which is also hosted in the USA Play store but not in the UK store.

I cant get both the EU and USA Avis apps to work at the same time as they share the same folder structure and some of the files and been merged- i should delete both and reinstall when i get chance.

When you use the app does it give you choices of specific cars e.g. mileage and type etc so e.g. you can choose say the exact Ford Expedition XT (or whatever it's called)you want? Or is it the model only, so you choose a Ford Expedition and they decide which one you get?

APK is the file extension for mobile apps just like exe is for pc programs or jpg for graphics files. It tells the operating system how it should handle the files.

Above bumped for RickT or anyone else familiar with the US app.

Also many thanks for links. Now installed. I have tried using my existing site log in to go into the tab, but it says that I can't do this now and quotes a US phone number. I haven't installed UK app as well.

Don't know if I'm meant to set up an account for the US site or whether log in issue is temporary blip.

In regards to model.. I think it just shows the make and model and not the trim level.

I think you have to get the booking linked if its your first time to your usa Avis account... I had to last year (theres a thread on it.. Will try and find it later)

My accounts are a bit mis match.. I have a UK Avis and American Avis site accounts, both sharing my wizard number but with different passwords to the same email address...

My USA account does not let me log into the .com website with email and password but does into the app, though I can log into Avis.com just using my booking number which in turn loads my profile...

I can log into Avis.co.UK with both my email address and confirmation booking ref.
