Thomas International - personal profile analysis PPA

Hi all,

I need to complete an online behavioural test soon, Thomas International personal profile analysis PPA. This is before my job interview.

I have had a look online and understand its a fairly short test designed to establish if your strengths match those required for the job.

I was just wondering if anyone had taken the Thomas International PPA test and could explain how it works, what the questions were like or any other top tips.

I last took some of these tests around 20 + years ago so am a little rusty!

Thomas International is very short and there's no right answers. You won't benefit at all from trying to manipulate it. You get a list of a series of 4 adjectives and you mark which one describes you most and which least. It can be difficult because in some lines you might think all apply to you equally, and in others you might think none are relevant eg sociable/honest/hardworking/energetic

Your answers are assessed against a Disc scale (Dominance, Influence Steadiness Conscientiousness)

I hate PPA as they can easily discriminate and have bias applied.

You can’t practice for it

Just ensure you are in a quiet place and have no distractions

I think it's the one I did before I got my job. They let me see the profile it generated after and it was freaky... nailed my personality bang on. Told me things even I didn't know about myself.

our company used to use these. they should be banned. it can be a terrible indicator of suitability for a job in a lot of circumstances.

adam ruins everything covered it. its on about myers-briggs, but they are essentially the same thing.

obviously you cant not take the test, just do it as best you can in a quiet space. just don't hold too much stock from what the results say (if they allow you to see it)

In a way I guess its a good thing that you can't prepare for it, I will just go with it and see what happens.

i completed one recently and found that on a few occasions i'd selected the 1 thing i was most like the other 3 left were not like me at all - i found it really difficult. Maybe i was over thinking it though! I didn't end up getting the results because i pulled out before the interview as i was offered another job. Would have been interested to see the results though.
