My oncologist uses silver nitrate now and that works (she told me not to use bio oil on my skin cancer scars as they are too thin)

So straight forward Vaseline would work then?

When I had a skin graft on my face my plastic surgeon recommended using E45 cream and massaging it for a few minutes twice a day.

Save your money. It's the act of gentle massage that reduces the scaring use any oil. The redness will reduce with time. The first 6 weeks or so it's red & firm as the body makes a strong healed wound.Next 6 months the scar lightens & softens.
If your scar is red , enlarged & raised it maybe keloid & can be treated with steroid injection & radiotherapy.

Absolutely use this, it’s fantastic on scars

I agree with others poster about time being the best healer. I had my gallbladder removed two years ago via keyhole surgery. Didn’t use anything and you can barely see any of the scars despite the belly button one being a couple of inches across. Good luck with the surgery

Have a look at cica care. Its very expensive, but reusable. And has some great science behind it...

Agreed; it’s the massaging so use oil or moisturiser that suits you.
I had surgery on my palm & the physiotherapist told me it could take up to a year & to gradually increase the firmness of my massaging of the area over time to avoid scar tissue building up.
