I think they offered $75 a night at first not realising how many people would call up after reading about it on social media. The email from them plays down any disruption and I am sure that a lot of guests would have ignored it based solely on the email. However the emails took so long to come out and so many people posted on forums and social media about the works, combined with Disney not putting out an official release meant people panicked about their holiday and started calling. This meant they had to pay out the money to more people and Disney started to worry about how much it would cost so quickly reduced the amount offered.

The whole thing is a perfect example of how not to handle a refurb announcement and how bad pr can continue to spiral worse when a company does not put a plan of action in place before making the knowledge public.

According to the Gentleman i spoke to, Disney started to inform the first US customers on Friday 17.02. while i think the UK customers got the first emails on wednesday 22.02. - even this is not fair and shows how bad this is organized. This feels like its the first time ever they´re doing a refurb oO

Its furthers from the Barbados/Martin Construction for sure and the way the water bends you wont even see that from your beach.

They are also putting separate food and drink permanent facilities there near the Pool and that work is nearly complete.

If I were you I'd stay - at worse the food facilities will be temp but interesting but the resort will be at a reduced capacity, for the main pool etc

I personally don't think shutters was any thing special, certainly so many better way to use a TS credit in WDW...
Hi there just wondered how u know the new pool bar is nearly complete?

Many thanks

The new food area/kiosk in the Pirates section (Trinidad south) has been on the official refurbs for some time, they've been building it the last couple of Months and due to finish by end of March.

Hey guys ! Been reading since I first found out last Wednesday, I finally got "the email" Thursday late night then telephoned Friday afternoon, after 2 hours I was offered a move but super poor availability for my dates in October so was offered the £50 prpn discount.

I'm still waiting on a revised invoice which I'm super worried about ! Is anyone still waiting or do you think I need to phone again? Really don't know whether I can another 2 hour wait 😱

I called bang on 9am and so far been on hold 42 mins. I tried on Saturday and waited 3hours before I gave up. Glad I did now since they have changed from the $25 back to the £50... if that's still the offer today!
