"Teacher Appreciation" rates

Hello! In case it's helpful to anyone, I have just booked a great rate at the Hilton Bonnet Creek using their "teacher appreciation" rate. It worked out about 30% less than their lowest available rate.
It can be used by teachers, or it appears, any staff who work in a school.

I emailed them to ask whether it applied to US schools only and they replied to say that as a U.K. Teacher I was "absolutely entitled to the special rate". So we are all booked - I just need to take my school ID badge with me for check-in.

Here is the link - hope it's helpful!

Haha - that would be great!

In fact, I've now noted that there a few hotels which offer the teacher appreciation rate - Waldorf Astoria and Ritz Carlton too (not sure how much they think teachers earn! )

Probably wise to check that they both accept U.K. Teachers but Hilton Bonnet Creek definitely does! 👍

Wouldn't it be lovely if everyone who worked in a career they had trained for got 30% off as a reward, teachers aren't necessarily special they are professionals doing a job they are good at (and often because they want to)

I think the Americans are better than uk for recognising people who are in the public service professions, who may not get paid as much but give into their local communities.

Totally agree with this - as in America they also often have rates for military and other state workers.

And btw, I do think teachers are a little bit "special" and deserve the respect given by these companies. We work obscenely long hours, often going way beyond the call of duty for the benefit of the children we teach. I feel that a lot of my year is spent putting others families before my own, for very little financial reward at the end of each month! So what a lovely way to reward that commitment.

Sadly, many people who don't have an insight into teaching think it's all long holidays and early finishes ... it couldn't be further from the truth. It may be August and the school holidays, but guess what my two little girls will be doing today ... yep, they're spending the day at my school with me while I start getting the classroom ready. It's not the first and won't be the last day of the holidays that the three of us put in the extra hours!

So good on Hilton! (Teacher rant over )
