I went on BA site and put in depart MAN and arrive MIA and it says sorry no direct flights but gives you the flights via LHR.
I’ve not done the route but it’s my understanding bags go straight through as it’s all 1 ticket, somebody else may be able to advise better on the bags. |

my mistake guys!
i priced Ba Man-mco this is why the price jumped up, just done man -mia and price is much better... lets see if i can talk the hubby around ? as the designated driver he doesnt fancy the 4hr drive to WDW ... if we do this we will probably stay at miami for a night at then travel the next day ...but will have to jiggle the whole holiday as we only have the easter 2 weeks (school hols) and planned wdw, onsite for 6 nights , I drive for 4-5 nights , the gulf coast 4/5 nights so will have to swap some days out somewhere , allowing travel days etc. ... first world problems hey!

If you stay in Miami for the first night and stay closer to uk time (aka get an early night) you'll be up bright and early to drive to Orlando in the morning - it's an easy drive. We stayed at (posssibly a Days Inn) just north of the airport and were straight out onto the 27 via Denny's for breakfast (and a couple of toilet stops) and were nicely in Orlando for lunch.
On the return, if you stay somewhere more Southerly on the Gulf Coast (Naples is only 2 hours from Miami Airport) your plans won't really change other than getting to Orlando a morning later and with a couple of thousand more dollars in your pocket. |

actually that sounds doable !
its defo an option for the money saved! good idea about staying further south on the gulf, as this is a concern of hubbys being to far from the airport , making it a stressful drive back? i've read the drive can be pretty good from coast to coast and ran that passed him in attempt to sway it , but he said "i'm hardly going to be taking the scenery in when i'm more concerned on getting to right place /return car" etc etc ? i feel were only a couple of weeks off all the flights being out, may as well hang on and see what the prices will be... we've waited over 12 months so far! thanks for suggestions xx

The Tamiami / Aligator alley is a pretty dull drive tbh. Mile after mile of green with not a lot to see. It makes it a very easy drive though - set cruise control and you're off. If he's worried about being too far from the airport, drive back in the morning and spend the afternoon in Miami/airboat ride on the Everglades etc etc, then you're only minutes away for the final bit - it's what we typically do and it lowers stress levels.
Does it definitely have to be the Gulf Coast? What about Fort Lauderdale area, or head south of the airport to Florida City and spend a few days visiting the Keys or Everglades? Possibilities are endless! |

We are in the same boat - only 25 / 30 mins from Manchester airport but the price for MAN-LHR-Miami looks good but planning on hanging on too for other airlines to release the flights. I wouldn't mind on the way there but would struggle with that drive then 2 flights on the way home I think x
