Flights or package? First time to Florida

planning our first trip to Florida around oct 27th 2015. Is it too early to start looking for prices of flights?
Also been told different opinions from people. Am I cheaper to book flights separate then rent a condo or villa or do a package with a hotel?

Hi Flick1982,

I am booking my Sept 2015 holiday this weekend (woop), and have been planning for the past month and found no problems getting quotes for flight, villas, car hire etc.

I too have done a DIY trip for 7 Adults and got an amazing deal at £1275pp (for 14nights all inclusive excluding meals and spends).

Happy hunting!

Id go DIY everytime without any thought - we booked our flight and car hire in the last BA sale and it cost £545 pp .. Be patient and wait for a sale with your dates . I personally would never book over the 11 month mark as you will be paying for the benefit . start saving and book when the price is right for you

We've done both and this time DIY has been cheaper- the first time we went we did a virgin holiday package- this time we've booked with disney direct and got flights separate

If you want to stay onsite at disney and want to take advantage of the free dining then book direct with them now and then look into sperate flights nearer the time. That's what we did for this upcoming holiday, we booked the hotel over a year before hand to take advantage of the dining plan and gift card. I then booked with virgin at about the 10 month mark. If you need to tweet your dates with disney to take advantage of cheaper flights they are usually pretty good about changing with no charge, as long as they have space.
Generally flying out on a Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday is cheaper then the other days of the week.

DIY may sometimes be more expensive but IMO so much more worthwhile when it comes to getting a villa you want. I think DIY can definately be cheaper if you are willing to put in the effort and hours of research...
