Alternative to Ipad

My Mums Ipad is really on its last legs

She really needs to replace it but tbh cant afford another IPad

Can anyone reccomend a tablet around the £150 - £200 price bracket

Are there any disadvantages compared to an ipad paying that much or will she need to increase the amount she spends

She uses it mainly for watching Sky Go, Amazon Prime/music and photo storage

If she just uses it for the above then an Amazon fire may do the trick and they are very reasonably priced.

Thank you

She has an old Amazon Fire but found it quite heavy and really not a large enough screen...she has cataracts (long story... she is blind in one eye and they dont want to operate until absolutely necessary incase the operation fails and she is left blind)

Think they do a 10inch one now. I know they have changed the spec so may be lighter than they used to be. You may be able to find the weight on Amazon and compare to the iPad to get an idea.

How about a Samsung Galaxy Tab A 10? They have 32gb of storage and an HD screen. About £160 from places like Currys. It has an card slot too so you can add to the storage.
I'm using one at the moment and haven't had any problems with it.

Sorry, going against the grain, but I don’t think there’s anything as good as an iPad. I’ve had/have Samsungs, Hudls, and Fires, and for ease of use, settings, screen, battery, the iPad is superior. I’d try and get a second hand one, or maybe take it to Apple to see if there’s anything they can do.

I have only ever had Ipads and so has my Mum

I do think you get what you pay for and through choice Mum would get another

Just seeing what the best for her budget is

Its hard because she doesnt want to buy something and then regret it

I am also using that exact same one. Love it. So much cheaper than hubby's iPad, just as quick.

You tend to be an iPad person or an Android OS person. I find the Samsung easier to use because I have never personally owned an apple product.

DH finds both easy to use, but because he spent so much on the iPad won't admit the Samsung is just fine.
