Where's your favourite All Inclusive

Hi

So where is your favourite All Inclusive Resort/ Hotel?

Why do you like it so much and who did you book with?

Thanks

Do you mean in the world?

I couldn’t answer that question, there is a lot more to a holiday to me than the hotel.

I book every hotel I stay at directly with the hotel’s reservation team.

Couples Swept Away in Jamaica. Fabulous location, food and facilities and great people. Not too big or small with enough going on if you want it and a fabulous martini bar! We’ve also stayed at two other hotels owned by Couples, but Swept Away is on the best best beach which you can walk for miles in either direction. Think we booked with virgin, but not 100% sure.

The thought of mass dining rooms and everyone then finding sunbeds around the same pool is my idea of hell so we generally avoid All Inclusive, unless it's on a remote island with far fewer people.

Not all are like that if you are selective! The ones we go to have more than one restaurant so in general we avoid the 'buffet' ones. We've always been lucky with sunbeds as well, no different to staying at a Disney resort. I do agree, I prefer my own pool and we usually stay in villas in Orlando for this very reason!
We do enjoy AI for a chill holiday!
Not AI but we stayed in Farimont the Palm in Dubai last Oct and that was nice. If you upgrade to club/gold level you get lots of extras that almost feel AI, apart from free alcohol round the pool!

Funny that, we are currently in an AI in Tenerife, and we were discussing last night where the best food was we'd had in an AI. We both said Couples Jamaica, we went 16 years ago.

We've stayed AI at The Moon Palace in Cancun, that had around 7 or 8 restaurants and I agree the dining situation was better than a feeding farm, but it was still catering to the masses, so food was very mediocre, I much prefer finding a nice restaurant.

I agree the restaurants at The Atlantis were nice, but the mentality in the club room when the snacks came out was reminiscent of a feeding frenzy with people piling their plates to avoid paying for dinner!

I guess it also depends on how important food is to you, for us going for dinner is an event that we all enjoy relaxing and chatting over, hence these feeding frenzies really don't appeal. I guess if you're not particularly a 'foodie' that it doesn't matter.

We're quiet pool people so just don't enter into the sunbed races at all.

We prefer half board hotels as many all inclusive hotels are overcrowded and feel too ‘holiday camp’ for us. But they can be very good too, especially if you just want a resort based holiday with plenty of organised activities for children and adults to join in if they want.

One of the best we stayed in is Voyage Belek in Turkey. It is luxurious and has adult only areas as well as family areas. Huge choice of places to eat and bars to drink in and directly onto a gorgeous beach.

Another high standard of hotel especially for food and drink would be Mitsis Laguna resort in Crete which is also right on the seafront and has wonderful a la carte restaurants.

The Bahia Principe in Tenerife is very nice too. Although this is a taxi ride from the nearest town, although there is a free hotel shuttle but it fills up quickly. We went in December one year and it was quiet but I think this would be crowded in the summer.

Also depends on what time of year you travel. We have never had any problems with sunbeds or restaurants in October half term.
The Sandos hotel in Benidorm was lovely, they are a chain so have other locations. We visited here in February and again had no issues with waiting or fighting for sunbeds.
As well as the usual buffet items they had chefs cooking lots of things from fresh, chocolate fountain and pour your own soft drinks and beer pumps.
