city centre hotels in paris

Advice needed

My big bro is coming over from oz in a couple of weeks and is taking his wife for a long weekend in paris, they want to do the centre and all the tourist things but will also be nipping to dlp (rude not to). Having already forked out for 2 tickets from australia he wants to keep it as cheap as poss.

He is after somewhere central, en suite and clean he has no other requirements

Any suggestions would be great

I've just booked 2 nights in this hotel using my airmiles (a treat for my brother and his girlfriend, I'm not going! ). It is right in the centre of Paris and the airmiles price includes a hot buffet breakfast.

When Paul gets back next Monday, I can post on here what he thought of it.

We stayed at the Terminus Lyon in June. Booked it through venere.com and got a good rate - but the normal rates are good. It's a medium sized hotel right across from the Gare du Lyon which is where you catch the train to DLP.

The hotel itself is fine - clean, and with very friendly staff with remarkably good English. The rooms are on the small side, but that doesn't really matter. The Tripadvisor reports are generally excellent with the odd moan about the size of the lift (small) and the corridors (narrow) - but I can't see why that would really matter to anyone!

It's accessible to the centre via metro and via the river bus - just a short walk to one of its stops. It is also very walkable - we took the river bus (Batobus) to the Eiffel tower and then walked all the way back stopping at various locations on the way.

Part of the Accor chain is the cheap'n'cheerful Campanile chain. Similar to a Travelodge. I stayed in the Bastille one. It was clean and had a decent buffet breakfast, and the location was great for seeing all the sights. And safe for getting back at night too.
