Help mouse in my kitchen

Aghh
Saw a mouse squeeze itself through a corner of the kick board nothing to see in the cabinet - don’t know what to do ? Seal the gap then it will be trapped ? Go and get traps or go out for the afternoon till my husband gets home 😳 we do have cats not sure if one of then has brought it in
Any advice gratefully received. I am a bit of a wimp so preferring my last option 😀

We have mice that my cats are bring in quite regularly. We have a little box to place over the mouse once we have cornered it and take it back outside. If your husband can do this, it saves another animal from dying.

I wouldn’t suggest blocking the hole up though because if the mouse dies it will stink! And for a good few days too!

Get a non lethal mouse trap and put that down where you saw it go. Something caramel like a Mars bar is a good option for food in the trap.

You can then take it to a local open space and let it free.

I am with you on running away!

We had two unwelcomed guests who snuck in the back door and hid behind the kickboard.

My husband got one with a frying pan, the other was sneakier, but could not resist the nutella on the trap. Neither solution was humane but they were quick. Mice are rodents, not Mickey's nephews.

Maybe lock the cat in the kitchen until you get the traps.

Good luck.

I believe that the best food lure for mice is peanut butter!

No point in killing them just for the sake of it, hate that mentality

It's so easy to catch mice in a humane trap, they love peanut butter/ chocolate spread. Release at least 1 mile away from your house and they won't find their way back. We've done it a few times over the years.

They don't know that they aren't 'meant' to be in your house, they are attracted to the food and warmth.

Peanut butter in a humane trap - get it caught then let it go in field away from your house.

We live in the country and mice are everywhere although not had any in the kitchen since the day we moved in. Ahh, will never forget that day - I am sobbing in the middle of the kitchen floor with about 6 mice running around doing cartwheels.. can laugh about it now though.

Good luck
