Scrap booking

My 6 year old son has been given a scrap booking project for the summer holidays. I've never done one. What would he put in it?

We did this too one year..

My girls just "gathered" stuff -

we went to the park, a leaf (or 2 or 3) and a picture of some swings from a magazine went on one page with a few words about our day out.

went swimming, picture of the pool and the ticket stub with a few words.

visit gran - some bits of wool, buttons and a photo of them together

saw a squirrel - put a pic of a squirrel and drew one- and put some random grass on the drawing.

random art work that fitted the "holiday" theme

superhero collage - wanted to do some cutting and sticking - may as well be put in the book...

Judicious use of blank space is a good idea! Alongside the ability to sit on your hands and not comment when it does not look neat and tidy... they WILL try to sellotape a rock to a bit of sugar paper.

I think it was supposed to be fun, and it was for a while, but we ran out of ideas and it became a bit of a chore to be honest.

Anything to show what he did in the holidays, things like;

tickets if you go anywhere/ bus tickets / train tickets
postcards
photos
drawings
maps
leaflets
write about the weather, games he's played

Hope that gives you a few ideas.

I have only made one scrapbook before and it was for my partner for valentines day but I am happy to share the kinds of things I put in it.

I put in photos of us from different trips we have taken.

I included ticket stubs from concerts / events / places we have been to.

I made a CD of songs that remind me of him

I bought stickers from some of the places that we have been to and put those in it

Next to photos / ticket stubs etc I wrote little notes about the things we had done etc

Hope that gives you some ideas!

Can't add any more really but not clear from your countdown - are you going to WDW this coming school holiday?

If so there's loads of scrapbooking stuff at the likes of Joann's and Michael's.

I made a scrapbook of mine and my other half's first year together for his birthday last year (cheesy i know ). I put in pictures of us at different places like the beach, the zoo, London etc.. I then stuck on tickets and other things I'd gathered from these places. Maybe if you're going on holiday or on a few days out you could do something like that.

Look under the Disney Crafts section here on the Dibb. There is a lot of advice there.
