I don't think that there is a right or wrong way, merely a million different ways that suit thousands of very different families with different priorities and aims.

You will find so much info on these boards it really is an amazing place.

If you are looking for villas, You could look at the DIBB villas, I have used them a few times and it is lovely that the owners are members on here.

If I book a villa I usually stay on Sunset Lakes, This is a genuine 10 mins drive to Disney, It is a gated community.
It has lots of shops and restaurants only a couple of mins away.
It is a lovely well kept community.

Enjoy your planning, There are many trip reports on here, Reading them will give you so many tips and ideas.
