Going in June for first time, 3 adults 2 kids(10 & 7). Staying in Villa, Emerald Island, Kissimee. Since parking charges are $25 dollars a day, can anyone give info on hiring uber/lyft instead of taking car. Would it be more cost effective? Thanks

Look at the Uber estimater it will give you an idea of costs. Think for example you will be looking at 21$ each way to MK for Uberxl.
Airport run if mco would be $50+ each way.
Lots of people go with out car but some will say if in Villa it’s needed.?

Probably won't be cheaper then the parking costs, but if you factor in the car rental price as well it might be about $10 a day cheaper. You will have to look into it and work it out yourself using the uber price estimater and a quote for a car. You can also use your uber app to do 'dummy trips', basically go the whole way through inputting where you are going and where you are starting, just don't actually book it!

That being said, there are a lot of pluses by ubering! You can have a drink with no worries, no worrying about parking, etc. We ubered almost everyday from cabana bay to disney and even walmart and some restaurants and it was a really good solution for us, and my driving friend would probably have been very nervous driving in the US so she was happy to have a break.

Did the math on this and it is cheaper to use Uber/Lift than rental, parking, etc. Saved me £200 last couple of years. But this only works if you are just doing the normal parks. If you want to go further out it’s best to hire a car.
One thing you need to factor in is that you will need an xl Uber which costs about 20 or 30% more than a standard Uber.

Thanks, I should have said in Initial query that we actually have arranged a hired car for our whole holiday, it was just whether we may have been able to save the $25 parking by getting a taxi.

The example earlier quoted $21 each way to MK Coming home at night after the parks close Uber may be on surge prices due to high volume at closing of parks.
So 1 return trip will be at least $42 instead of. $25 parking, I don’t think you would use $17 fuel on that trip.
Plus you pay parking once per day, so you can go back to villa for a swim and back to parks at night, and it can be any of the Disney parks.

If you did factor in the cost of rental car then it can be cheaper Uber Lyft.
Me ? Having a big SUV is a fun part of out holiday which we enjoy. We may leave the park on the way back to the villa then decide to go somewhere else on the spur of the moment, so we like the flexibility of the car.

Each to their own on this, no right or wrong, just showing why we like the car option.

Thanks so much for that, it looks like we'll just take the car all the time then, especially if you can return later in the day at no extra cost.
