on money saving expert there is a eligibility checker that does a soft search on cards to see what your chances of being accepted are

obviously not 100% guide but worth a look imo

Thank you for this , Ive just used it and he won’t get accepted due to the student/no income part which I suspected .

I know you’ve got it sorted now but you could consider seeing if you could add him as an additional card holder on your credit card? Just for extra peace of mind while he’s away.

I can’t thank you enough as this is something I hadn’t thought of. I’ve rang the bank this afternoon and he now has a card linked to our account as he can’t have one as a stand-alone .

Good ole dibb eh At least I know they will be ok at the hotel in cairns now and have access to immediate emergency funds in Abu on the flights connection if they need it . The rest of the trip they will be ok with being with my big sis

Glad you got sorted but for others who may read this, most hotels will take a cash deposit too. I lost my CC a few years ago on a multi city trip and every hotel accepted a cash deposit instead of a swipe. Some said that room charging would be deactivated but I was fine with that
