DCL Northern Europe - stateroom question
Excitedly keeping eyes peeled for the next lot of 2020 itineraries!
Our first cruise was Sep 2017 on the Magic, round the Med. We had a Category 10B stateroom on Deck 2 last time, Room 2105, and loved it. We liked being able to pop up to Decks 3 and 4 easily which is where we spent most time (we're not sun worshippers and it was rainy and windy most days!) We didn't feel much movement on the ship. I stopped taking my stugeron a couple of days in as I didn't feel ill at all. An interior stateroom was no problem. We took a couple of fake LED candles that we switched on at night just so we could see our way to the loo! I've seen some videos of our cruise since, and the people in them talk about the ship rocking quite a lot. They were on Deck 5. So I wonder if that makes a difference? Is there much difference between the interior and the deluxe interior? There were only two of us and I felt we had loads of space which was nice. I also liked the bed being at the far end of the room, because you opened the door and it felt like a ROOM! with a (bed) rather than a BED! in a (room)! If you get me. Would we feel hard done by if we went for the interior rather than deluxe interior? Also, do you think a porthole or verandah is worth it for Northern Europe? I don't think we actually go past the fiords, do we? And if we do, we would probably be happy to sit somewhere else and watch the scenery.

We have never stayed in an inside cabin so can't comment on the difference between the standard and deluxe cabin, sorry.
We have always had a verandah and love to be able to sit outside in our own private space. I suffer with anxiety and at times the decks can get a little cramped so this is the perfect solution for us. We would bring some cake or croissants down after breakfast and mid morning we would sit out with a cup of tea and eat them, so so relaxing. It's also nice to be able to open the door and breathe the fresh air. Having said that our next cruise is an inside room so it's good to know you enjoyed yours as I am a little apprehensive about it. With regards to the movement of the ship I heard the lower down the ship the less you feel and also that a central cabin is better than the back or front.

We have booked a standard inside for our Northern Europe cruise this august... the price difference for an ocean view was just too much for us and we figure we can see the scenery from on deck when we want to.

We love inside rooms. The only difference between a standard and deluxe is the latter are slightly bigger.
We love the Deluxes on deck 1 more than being on deck 2 personally. Joa

So was I before we cruised. I don't like complete darkness, it feels very claustrophobic. At home I leave the bedroom door open and a light on in the hallway. In hotels I usually leave the curtains slightly open to let a little light through.
However, the two little 'fake candles' we brought were just the thing. We switched them on at night and put them on our little coffee table. They gave a soft glow that just allowed us to see our way to the loo in the dark!

Quieter really and as the rooms are more midship, you don't get so much thruster vibration (seems wrong typing that)!
