I think Disney have forgotten the excellent work by J Collins:-

5 stages of decline.

Stage 1 is when people become arrogant, regarding success virtually as an entitlement.
Stage 2, the Undisciplined Pursuit of More—more scale, more growth, more acclaim, more of whatever those in power see as “success.”
Stage 3, internal warning signs begin to mount, yet external results remain strong enough to “explain away” disturbing data or to suggest that the difficulties are “temporary” or “cyclic” or “not that bad,”
Stage 4. Common “saviors” include a charismatic visionary leader, a bold but untested strategy, a radical transformation, a dramatic cultural revolution, a hoped-for blockbuster product, a “game changing” acquisition, or any number of other silver-bullet solutions. Initial results from taking dramatic action may appear positive, but they do not last.
Stage 5, accumulated setbacks and expensive false starts erode financial strength and individual spirit to such an extent that leaders abandon all hope of building a great future. In some cases, their leaders just sell out

I view Disney as being firmly embedded in Stage 2 and heading to Stage 3

Good points, I really hope that the leadership at Disney change tack before they devalue a great company. I couldn't go to Disney for so long due to lots of external factors and now I can go to a place I love where I feel safe travelling alone it would be such a shame for me if that were no longer the case.

We also bought where we wanted to stay but have over the years enjoyed staying at other resorts. We bought because Disney was different so interesting to see that they are, in my opinion, going backwards in timeshare development. We recently attended a timeshare presentation by anothe big hotel chain who said that they had moved to points and flexible stays due to the success of the Disney model as they felt it was revolutionising the timeshare business. Wonder what their view is now. 😏

Ali. Not boring at all, this is exactly what we did. We were also offered remnants of WL and the Boardwalk and Beach when we were at the point of purchase but opted for SSR.

What has finished us is the Points issue, not Riveria. We now find ourselves a week short. That I call shady business practices.

Thats what we did too. and we don't treat it as an investment either..

Problem has always been too many people buy resale and then never stay in thier home resorts so people are finding it hard to book at thier home resorts, those that buy at Vero Beach and always stay at WDW for example.
This is one way that Disney sees as trying to stop that. Nothing wrong with it as its thier play set..

I was one who didnt heed the advice of " buy where you want to stay " we purchased at SSR, we had driven past it many times and it never grabbed us ( we have since stayed one night for the MLM party so i could have a drink , and had issues with the aircon )

we love OKW, but have stayed recently at POLY, AKVkid and loved it

If we had to stay at our home resort, its not a major issue, afterall its at WDW and we only really sleep in the room ( though not at SSR last time ) and anywhere is fine on WDW

Yes - I would like that view across the lake at SSR but to get it I'd have to increase points spend significantly

thing is though we need the fully accessible room and there is not any nice view. the view is the bus stop so feel bit unfair
