Planning August 2019 - few questions :)
Hi,
I’ve visited Disney world many times and am planning a three night stay at Dlp this August with my 7 yo who has asd - just have a few questions. 1, I’m expecting August crowds to be heavy and plan on getting him an assistance card from Disney - what entrance to rides do you use for these? 2, He has a lot of food intolerances- is there a large supermarket nearby that is likely to sell lactose free milk for example. 3, staying at Davy Crockett ranch - for a bit of extra space and so I can prepare a few meals for him, can’t see the option to book a premium lodge, any idea how I do this? 4, anyone hired a car from the station at DLP? 6, I need to take some of ‘his’ foods with me as hold luggage as will be flying. Particularly some Alpro desserts as the would be clarified as liquid. - sort of a yogurt consistency - do you think this would be a problem. Thanks for reading, I’m sure I’ve got many more |

Can't help with many of those - however supermarket wise there is a huge Auchan supermarket at Val d'Europe which is one train stop from Disney or 10 mins in the car.
You won't have any problems getting free from foods/drinks there. In my experience the free from range in French supermarkets tends to be vastly greater than in the UK. |

That’s great thanks! Nice to know they have a great free from range in France - although he can be fussy with brands.
I’d drive so we can take everything we need, but we live ooop north and he’s desperate to go on a plane! Just hope he likes flying.. |

With the access card, mostly you enter via the exit. You will need a GP letter dated within 3 months of your trip explaining your son’s difficulties. We’ve been taking our autistic son to DLP for years - they’re very good with SN visitors.
August is busy and often very hot. Avoid weekends if you can as they are often worse. Auchan supermarket as already mentioned is at the Val d’Europe shopping centre. With a car this is easy to access. No idea about car hire, as we always take our own car over. We’re also staying at DCR this August. Never stayed there before, and can’t remember about cabins as we booked over a year in advance on the 2 nights free offer. Edited at 04:20 PM. |

Hi, Lisa - thanks for your response, that’s really helpful. Have you had an trouble getting a letter from the gp? I’m aware that I’ll need to pay for it, do you just let the receptionist know what you need?
We are planning a Mon - Thurs trip as I’d heard about weekends.. I’m still expecting it to be rammed though with school hols. I decided on dcr mainly for the space and he’s been to Haven a couple of times so it will be similar to what he’s used to - hopefully 😆 |

Do you have a blue badge for the car? This is accepted. I'm taking my mum in August and she has rheumatoid arthritis, I've gotten the carers discount for the ticket portion of my package booking, and that was an acceptable form of proof. It also says they'll accept that for the access pass. Xx

OP - yes, I just ask the receptionist to ask our GP. He charges around £20-£25 from memory. I’ll probably do this in June to give time to get the letter and make sure it’s still valid.
We’re going Monday to Friday. We were going to book Newport Bay as we’ve stayed in a family room there before, but at the time of booking there were no rooms. DCR was the only option for our family of 5 without booking 2 rooms. Edited at 08:36 PM. |
