tattoo advice - first tattoo update Page 3 I did it!

I have a tiny one on my ribs and was really scared because it's meant to be quite a painful area. I got numbing cream from boots pharmacy and it was amazing! I literally didn't feel a thing, nearly dozed off while it was being done, would highly recommend. It needs to be on about half hour before and cling film put over it.

I had mine done 17 years ago on my bottom rib lift hand side & I had to keep asking him to stop for a moment, it was the worse pain I have ever voluntarily inflicted on myself. I would have another one but not in that area again!

I have inner wrist tattoos on both my wrists. I have other small tats elsewhere and they didn’t hurt as much as the one on my lower back and ankle. You could get some cream if you’re that worried, but honesty I would say my blue flower only hurt a tiny bit because it was slightly higher near the vein, you could just ask them to stay away from the vein and do it a bit lower.

My most recent tattoo was a full back piece top to bottom, my tattooist specialises in realism and I am very fussy when it comes to tattoos. For most of it I didn't use numbing cream, the day I went back to finish I did (a short 2 hr sitting). He is the only tattooist who I have spoke to about cream and he said its never made any difference to the ink.

The results where exactly the same visually you wouldn't know which part I used the cream. It literally made my skin feel totally numbed like rubber lol!

I have a bigger tattoo on my wrist than the one you want, it hurts yes but distraction will get you through. I usually make sure I have food/drink and a book to distract me, be careful though they can become addictive x

I had one done on my thigh when I hit 40. It was a now or never moment. It tingled a bit but wasn't painful. It hurt more when I stubbed my toe.

DS had his 1st tattoo inside his wrist and he said it was ok, and he’s the biggest wuss ever .

They do hurt- it is a burning sensation and they are uncomfortable when they are healing. Wrist is sensitive but I found other areas worse (elbow crease, foot, upper arm) . My advice for your first one would be ask if you can use the bed rather than the chair if possible, I can do all day sessions with my legs elevated but sat on a chair makes me feel a bit queasy for some reason. I've had two half sleeves, hand and foot done
