Beach day suggestions
Hello. I will be staying in Orlando with my husband and two teenage sons at Easter. Can anyone recommend a place for a day at the beach please? We have been to Fort Desoto before and enjoyed that. Somewhere not too busy but beautiful with a place to get some refreshments and do a bit of fishing would be ideal. Thank you.

Clearwater is beautiful and has been voted number 1 beach in America by tripadvisor this year. It’s a fairly pleasant drive, about 1.30 - 2 hours depending on traffic, going over the bridges to connect to the island are amazing in themselves. Lots of nice restaurants and I think you can fish from pier 60 or charter a boat for the day.

Looking for beach suggestions also.
Only having ever been to Fort Lauderdale, we’re looking for an alternative. Fort Desoto looks like a nice place. Cocoa beach is quite close and Clearwater is one of the most popular, but still undecided.

Casperson, just south of Venice is good if you want to sift the sand for fossilised sharks teeth.
Nearby is Sharky on the pier.. good food and of course, a pier. We have seen plenty of fish landed here including Cow nosed rays and Bonnet Sharks.

We did Clearwater for a day and it was very doable and great. My DD is a huge Dolphin Tale fan so we went to CMA to see Winter, did the Little Toot boat trip to see dolphins, spent time on the beach and had dinner at one of the beach restaurants followed by a stroll along the sand for a memorable sunset. Highly recommend!

I don’t think you will find a better package than Fort Desoto... you don’t need a fishing licence to fish off either piers.
We were there last week and it was wonderful. Probably the 20+ time we have been and still one of the first places on the list to visit. |
