Disney performers on social media
What are your thoughts on this?
To be honest i thought that Disney wouldnt 'allow' performers posting pictures of themselves as characters but on the other hand social media is a way of life now for alot of people how can they stop it? I was looking for a face character on fb as i didnt get any pictures myself and all it takes is a couple of clicks and all that needs to happen is that one of their friend tags them in the picture of themselves as a character and you know who the performer is. does it ruin the magic? i cant imagine a few years ago Disney allowing this - but times have changed. for me it doesnt ruin the magic - it makes me appreciate that most if not all of them are trained professional dancers, some even ballet. i didnt realise this. what are your thoughts on this? |

I don't think it necessarily spoils the magic. One of my friends was a face character at DLP and wasn't allowed to post any photos of herself while she was in contract but could once it ended (her current cover photo is all the princesses). My cousin worked at wdw and was warned that anything that might tarnish the Disney name would result in instant dismissal (this included moaning about job, living conditions or how tired she was! )

Well, I was reading a CMs (face character) twitter page that I stumbled across the other day and I was shocked by how much not only did she moan about being tired (I can live with that), but the swearing! I honestly thought Disney would clamp down hard on anyone swearing on SM if they are associated quite heavily with the Parks. I'm sure this used to be the case?
My eldest DD, while not on SM, will sometimes ask to read some of the CMs' pages on my phone/laptop as I think she's a little in awe of them - but that's the problem! |

I was told by someone who worked on the production side of the Disney films that Disney monitor all social media of the people that work there. I am surprised about that performer on social media swearing whilst being linked to Disney. It just looks unprofessional and not nice for young fans. Still alot of the performers are only young arent they? Maybe they will have to learn the hard way if Disney find out. Edited at 04:21 PM. |

I follow someone on twitter/instagram whos a face character but she hasn't actually admitted to being said characters, just that she's "best friends" with that character (tho it is pretty obvious by her photos).
It doesn't ruin the magic at all. |

As long as they are in character whilst working in the parks, it doesn't bother me. Have had characters drop out of character on a couple of occasions but because I was joking with them about something and they made an aside. Both times was on the cruise ships.
Believe me some CMs get up to far worse than just posting their character pics on social media. There is a famous YouTube taken backstage at Disneyland where the antics are far from Disney's ethics. Edited at 05:16 PM. |

I don't think I could find this person again if I tried tbh as I literally stumbled across her. She was quite new and young and from the UK, as you say. I was shocked. They are human after all but still think the two don't mix well. Maybe 2 twitter accounts would be more appropriate if they want to vent about stuff and swear, that way it's kept separate.
