Not sure if you’re married or not, but Avis include a spouse for free. Not that I did any of the driving!

I think it might! Am sure I’ve read somewhere that it also applies to ‘domestic partners’, which surely must just be another term for living together.

You would assume so! I will just make sure he books as main driver, see what they say and if not he can just do all the driving haha! Ive never drove on the other side of the road and neither has he to be fair. is it hard?

I’ve driven a little bit in Florida, but not really anywhere else. Having seen the roads in Canada though, they generally seemed fine and I wouldn’t be too worried.
If it was a choice for me out of the two places, then I’d rather drive in Canada - the roads don’t seem as busy and people take their time a bit more. I’m sure you’ll both manage brilliantly.

Thank you! I hope so... Everyone seems to be fairly positive about it all to be fair. So, I imagine we will be ok.

Driving in Canada is really enjoyable, there isn’t too much traffic and the roads are excellent quality in terms of surfacing. They also have very well observed speed limits including 20km per hour in the towns - this is very slow actually and good as a result for pedestrians, who clearly come first in Canada.
One thing to look out for, especially as you drive down the icefields parkway but also in jasper area, is cars stopped at the side of the road. This most likely means there is some wildlife nearby and if it’s safe to do so, you could also consider pulling over to get a closer look! We did this and had a family of bears literally walk past us. Fabulous photo op from the safety of our vehicle! |

I think as long as you make sure you get plenty of petrol before you leave for kamloops and there are a few stops en route, then that’s the biggest stretch of ‘wilderness’ driving. But there are little petrol stops around. If you have a satnav, they should show up on that
