Looking back at it now it was clear it was rushed and does have issues. Not as good as I initially thought. To be honest the whole Disney trilogy didn’t work for me after a fairly promising Force Awakens. I’ve just finished watching the prequels again and although they get a lot of stick I think Revenge Of The Sith is better than all the new ones bar Rogue One. The prequels look better as well.

Watched it for the 1st time on Wednesday night. I am not great on the history of all the characters though understand the continuing story line.
Tbh I just didn’t like it. Too much reliance on special effects & shoot-em-up scenes not a patch on the original 3. I don’t really rate Daisy Ridley which probably doesn’t help.

I thought this one was a bit meh. I too wanted to see more of Rose and I thought the banter between the boys came off a bit false. Some of it was strange - I thought “excellent General Hux is an agent for the resistance”, but then it was just because he didn’t like Kylo Ren! I agree there was a lot of stuff in it which to me didn’t make sense, but may be covered in other stories and comics outside of the films. To me that’s not fair to the film viewer.
I've not read any of the other stories outside of the films and I don't remember anything not making sense nor requiring any additional knowledge. Although, I admit, I may have mentally edited that stuff out.

The only bit that was a bit jarring was right at the beginning where we are told that the voice of the Emperor has been heard again. It would've been better if the identity of the bad guy was kept a bit more of a mystery until later in the movie.
