Mobile Star Wars Comprehending it’s Enormity

As a 9 year old boy in 1977 I was blown away the moment that Star Destroyer loom across the screen. At with Disney+ coinciding with lockdown I’ve rewatched all the films and documentaries and the enormity of what George Lucas created is staggering. It’s a single storyline told over 40 years. There’s no other franchise that comes close, even the spin offs, Rogue one and Solo tie in with the main story, I’ll admit some of the acting dialogue etc haven’t always been great, but the films constantly attract new audiences. When you add in all the innovations he brought to movie making I really don’t think George Lucas gets anywhere near the credit he deserves, yes it’s part of the Disney franchise now, but it came from the mind of one man. A bit like Walt himself

I am embarrassed to say but never seen any star wars movie.
I was 17 when it came out but at that point in my life, cars, growing up and probably thinking it's not for me. Well last week we decided that during lockdown were going to watch it.

I remember back when the original trilogy was out (possibly between Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi) that George Lucas had said he had plans for 9 films in total - 3 prequels and 3 sequels. At the time, I never thought it would happen. At roughly 3 years between films, that would mean I'd have to wait until around 2001 to see them all, which seemed like a lifetime away.

Little did I know that I'd have to wait until 2019 to watch the complete saga.

Definitely agree. I think he’s one of those people that once he’s gone only then he will get the recognition he deserves. The Prequels unfortunately made a massive dent in his reputation. I recently rewatched them and there are some bad things in them, namely the gungans and shocking romantic dialogue. He needed someone to say let’s step back a minute and re think some things but if they did he didn’t listen. BUT as I posted in another thread recently they, for me feel more Star Wars then the Disney stuff bar Rogue One. I’d love to know what his vision for episodes 7,8 and 9 would have been.

Don't forget he also brought us Indiana Jones.

Up there with the greatest filmmakers and visionaries of all time.

We have watched the clone wars and rebels over lockdown and really enjoyed them too. The clone wars helps explain more why Anakin went to the dark side as well as the actor playing him plays him with more personality
