End supplier insurance
I know I'm going to sound thick here but I've got end supplier insurance for my August holiday. If flights are open, universal and universal hotel open but Disney hotel and Disney closed, can I claim all the holiday back?

Assume you mean End supplier failure? ESF is to cover the financial failure of any company with whom you have booked all or part of your holiday.
I don't think Disney fall into that category. Mick

Thank you, I stupidly assumed with this type of insurance if one part of your holiday is cancelled the rest is covered.

No problem. Because of our age and PEMCs I have to test the market intensively every year and travel insurance can be a minefield.
Even ESF is not all it's cracked up to be. For instance insurers will reject a claim through ESF if you paid the supplier with a credit card as they will expect you to recover it from the CC supplier through a Section75 claim. Secondly they will not pay out if the financial difficulties were known publicly when you bought the policy. Therefore you wouldn't have got far with an ESF claim for Thomas Cook if you took out a policy in early September last year. Never stayed in a Disney hotel nor visited a park since 2010 so can't help on that bit but there's loads of WDW experts on here who know how Disney are handling such stuff. Mick

If Disney hotel and parks are closed they will refund you as they have done so far.
If flights are operating and Universal hotels and parks are open, I think you would be hard pressed to get anyone to refund if you want to cancel as this would then be a disinclination to travel on your part. On what basis have you booked Universal however? I have stayed there several times and usually pay a one night deposit with the rest only due upon check out. The end supplier insurance would not be relevant in any case, as neither Universal nor Disney have gone into administration in the scenario you have described. |
