BA flight vouchers - offering individual vouchers for each person

I'm a bit miffed with BA.

I have 3 bookings with them (Portugal July, Florida August, Florida November) and a separate hotel booking with them aswell.

Speaking to them, they are only offering vouchers to the value of the flight with the individual person's name on it, so 5 separate vouchers.

Two of our party of 5 won't be able to go anywhere next year, so that's 2 vouchers wasted x 2 trips, 4 flight vouchers.

Unless they all get cancelled, I can see us having vouchers issued that won't be used.

I understand your disappointment, but Flights are not generally transferable so I don’t see anything really wrong with BA’s stance, on the assumption that they will provide a full refund if the flights are cancelled of course. I expect your July flights will be cancelled shortly.

I recently had a BA flight cancelled (Sep 2020) - they offered me:

An opportunity to rebook (nothing available)
A voucher for a future Flight
Or
Full refund (We had only paid a deposit at this stage)

I opted for refund and it was credited to mt CC the same day.

BA are being good but I had not heard of anyone getting a refund for September before their flight was cancelled. Perhaps OP can push fr that then.

I understand they're not transferable, unfortunately though 2 of our family won't be around next year, they're studying away.

I was happy to take vouchers rather than pull the money out, as I'm sure we'd use them somehow at some point, but I thought it was a voucher that could be used as you wish, as long as you were lead person on the booking.

I hope the portugal flights will be cancelled soon, that's one thing taken care of. They're not sure how things will work with the Clearwater hotel yet, we'll have to wait and see, they said ring back 2 weeks before.

I am just loathe to lose 4 flights (approx. £2,800) because two of my sons named on the tickets won't be able to use them if August flights are not cancelled.

We will be in that situation too if we can’t go but flights not cancelled. I suppose my daughters would be able to use the voucher to book a random trip somewhere on their own in the future ? A lucky trip somewhere for “ free” when actually I’ve already paid for it 😉😂

Sorry for jumping in on your thread. I have flights only booked and paid for this October. Are BA offering vouchers just now for your flights in November? I would bite their hands off for a voucher that I could use next October as I'm kind of resigned to losing the flights now as my family don't want to go with social distancing, masks, etc in place.

Unfortunately not. At the moment they are only offering vouchers for flights up until 31st July.

Thanks, thought it was too good to be true. Kids don't want to go now with the measures in place and the likelihood that HHN will be cancelled.
