I haven't heard of any issues yet... Although it seems Hertz / Dollar & Thrifty have changed their debit card policy and will only accept them for economy to full size cars. Anything larger requires a credit card.

We arrived yesterday late afternoon - went to Terminal A to collect our visitor toll pass, all very straightforward. A machine to get the pass but there was a desk next to it for help too. This was located opposite the Alamo desk area. We then went to the garage to pick up our standard SUV from Alamo. The row only had
1 Mitsubishi Outlander which had a lot of scratches, the rest of the entire row was empty. We asked if there were any more coming and all they could offer was a people carrier as an alternative. In the end someone bought us along a Toyota 4Runner (I think, will check in the morning). Nice car but no Apple car play or anything to connect our google maps - very basic. Nevermind, we didn’t feel we could be fussy at this stage and took it. We realise times are different at the moment - we are just used to having a choice and felt we had paid a huge amount of money for this rental compared to normal. On exit from the garage, the guy in the kiosk did try to charge us for an extra driver and petrol but luckily our paperwork confirmed we had both included when we pointed this out. After a super speedy immigration and exit from the airport, this was the most stressful part but will soon be forgotten. |
