Sydney is probably my favourite city. I could easily spend all day hopping on and off all the ferries from Circular Quay.

We’ve been twice and would to go back. How about a rail trip on The Ghan from Adelaide to Darwin? We loved it great food and additional trips to Katherine Gorge etc are included.

Wonderful city to live in. It wasn't our first choice at all, we thought Melbourne but DH very niche and needed to work in Sydney. We soon loved living there, fantastic blend of being a bus ride into the city centre plus a walk to the beach from home.
A great choice but we have done it, also done the Indian Pacific (Sydney to Perth). We did the Ghan in 2011, it had been a wet year and the centre had quite a lot of greenery as well as the usual red. We still haven't come up with anything since I started the thread. We have done a fair bit of Australia already hence scratching our heads a bit. |

Kangaroo Island and the Remarkable Rocks? The Puffing Billy near Melbourne, though you’ve probably done that one. We are hoping for a trip on the Indian Pacific if we get back there one day.

We thought about Kangaroo Island a couple of times whilst we were over there but never made it, so that is one to look into again.
Nope never been to puffing billy, never even heard of it. Turned out we really did not like Melbourne so we only went that way a couple of times. Means the Great Ocean Road remains to be done too.. DH said last night “what about that Lizard Island place you used to mention”. He doesn’t normally do the booking so I don’t think he appreciated the cost, I think that was a green light though… |

puffingbilly.au/about/ It’s a short trip but good fun. The Ocean Road is worth doing for the views and there are good places along the way.
