I gave my story above about $650 a night for a BLT studio on NYE.
This is now before Christmas- it’s got absolutely ridiculous. This would cost me about $90 a night in dues cost. The person booking this would have parking on top too, we’d pay nothing. Good news if you are a DVC owner renting points though. Think realistically DVC owners need to be asking £15 / $20 a point minimum now.

YT. Don't forget to empty your shopping cart.
Dear God that price is ridiculous. And for what?

I want to say that is crazy, crazy crazy …. But the market will dictate the price I guess.
I’m happy we have DVC but I am feeling less and less inclined to stay onsite nowadays. (Though of course ability to book an SV studio at 11 months is not guaranteed - and I say that having tried and failed a number of times over the years at BLT over Xmas)

I think of my booking more like a US visitor, we (my husband, son DIL and grandchildren ) will do 3 weeks in Florida, the first visit for 4 years, we have been to lots of other places.
We will be away for 3 weeks but will only spend 5 nights at Disney and 3 at Universal. I have bookings for Beach Club (2 bed room apartment not DVC) and Universal Hard Rock (2 bed apartment). Previously we have booked DVC by renting points but I am currently wary of no refund if things get worse. I simply don't mind paying the price. Life is for living, we will spend the other days lazing at the beach which we all enjoy so the short intense expensive Disney/Universal holiday will be worth it. |

We never really spend the entire holiday at Disney as we enjoy other areas too much- the exception was when we went for 10 days Xmas 2019 where we just stayed there although of course we did our usual split stay for change of scenery. Only time ever done that and been going since ‘92. We still got an itch to go out though and had a day at Anna Maria and a separate day (Mrs YT and I) doing the Tampa River Walk (highly recommended).

We will be in an apartment overlooking the ocean between St Petes and Clearwater for 6 nights and then after Disney/Universal we have a week in a beach cottage with its own pool right on the beach in Treasure Island, fly in and out of Tampa. Let's hope!
You are right the Orlando bubble is too much! |

Compared with other holidays we take I’ve always considered Disney up there in terms of value for money for us. Of course what’s value to some people isn’t for others. We don’t visit often - every 5 years or so. It’s not somewhere that draws us enough to visit every year and it’s always added on to other touring or city visits when we visit the states.
We always have a good time. We stay deluxe but have never paid rack rates as we usually get a good deal via a US travel agent. |

We always stay on site at Disney for the duration. My first experience of this was at All Star Music for 3 1/2 weeks, and I was hooked. No way could I take that much time off work now, but it showed me the value of immersing ourselves fully in Disney.
Let's face it, most people go to Orlando for Disney (or perhaps Universal), so people will always pay those prices. For us, there isn't anything in Orlando to entice us off-site, bar our obligatory trip to Target. We're not in to Universal at all. I do quite like the Kennedy Space Center on the coast, but usually we go for a week these days and there isn't enough time to prioritise it over WDW. That said, I had some wonderful childhood Florida holidays staying offsite. |
