Can you skip the counter at Tampa with Budget?

Does anyone know if you can skip the counter at Tampa and go to garage as you can with Avis Preferred?

I've completed the online digital check in but not very clear about skipping the counter.

Always used Avis for our last 8 trips but didn't realise I'd chosen Budget this time. Tried changing today with BA but they want another £276 to change companies!

As far as I know skip the counter with Budget isn't available to anyone from the UK.

You've managed to complete the new Budget check in? You must be in the minority who've managed to get passed the card entry page.

I haven't had any feedback from customers yet so not sure.. The Budget website says you go straight to the key collection desk... Not sure if this is in the garage or if its at the rental desk.

Tom, Budget have launched a new online check in which no longer excludes the UK.

I've done the digital check in - seemed quite simple and straightforward but not travelling until next year (if at all) so no experience of how it actually works.

That's good to know. Will be interesting to read people's experiences of it over the next few months and whether you can go straight to the garage.

Thanks for this, I have just completed the digital check in for our December car hire at Tampa too. My credit card details were accepted.

It doesn't seem that you can go straight to the garage like Avis. Instead you have to go to the Key Collection Point where they check your ID & credit card and then hand the keys over to you after they have your signature.

Not as quick as straight to the garage but you don't have to join the normal queue. But, there's no guarantee how long the queues will be at the key collection point!

Will update when we collect. Hopefully there may be Dibbers collecting before me that can let us know how it goes.

I couldn't complete Digital Check In... kept getting error messages. I phoned Avis/Budget and was told that, because this was a third party booking, I wouldn't be able to complete DCI.
