Japan Queries

Hi all, hubby and I heading over to Tokyo & Kyoto in 5 weeks and I'm so excited that we're going to Disney Sea!

I do have a few questions that I hope someone can help with please!

We head over in November (1 week after the Rugby World Cup). What kind of clothes should I pack? Temperature guides say 17-20 degrees, but apparently it is VERY humid? Just looking for some clarity there please

Also, I know the voltage out there is 100w, and I have a travel hairdryer which goes to a low of 120w. I don't think this will work? I also cant see anything on the hotels websites about hairdryers being in the room?

I would think the hotel would have a hairdryer? Where are you staying?

aha! Both of who I LOVE! Chris Broad is great! I enjoyed his vlog on the journey across Japan on the bikes!

We are staying at the Ibis in Shinjuku and Hotel Kuu in Kyoto. Hubby has since found out the rooms have hairdryers so that helps that, but need to think about my straighteners! I have cloud 9s!

Please post a report when you return, we are looking for 2021 to Japan so all info helpful. Hoping my Japanese language course is going to help me a bit too.

Our GHDs worked in Japan if that helps. All out phone chargers worked. As long as it says 110 to 240 on them they will probably work. We took a uk 4 way and used a single travel adapter for all our gizmos.

Cant help you with the weather now though. We didnt find the humidity an issue when we went in summer, sure it is high but there was always a breeze, even in Tokyo.

I'm going in 2 weeks What GHD's do you have please? I have old 3.1b's and I've read that I shouldn't use them Was planning to rock a pony every day!
Clothes wise I am taking jeans, midi skirts/dresses, t-shirts, cardigans and 1 light jacket. If I need anything warmer I will buy it over there (packing a thick scarf to use as a blanket on plane and for when I get back in UK). The weather looks lovely for when we go, some days uo to 24 degrees
I will do a mini report on my return. I've been watching 'Cakeswithfaces' and 'ThisNatasha' on YouTube, both really informative.

I have the thin mk4. It has a sticker saying 110 to 240v. In kyoto go to Nara, it is awesome. Book a yukata for the day too.

Can recommend lingodeer japanese. The simple phrases worked well enough. Learn counting too - not just numbers (i.e. hitotsu,futatsu,mittsu for 1,2,3 , rather than ichi,ni,san.) It helps when ordering

Hyperdia app was the most invaluable app we used. Rent a wifi module. Get a suica card as kyoto isn't as jr pass friendly as tokyo. Suica works well for non jr in tokyo too.

Voicetra is an excellent live translation app that works very well.

I used my Suica card for 70% of all purchases in Tokyo I would estimate, very easy and no pockets of coins at end of holiday

In terms on GHDs - Mine are the old "dark" edition... think 11 years old but they work at 110v. My cloud 9's wont.
