I've been in a swabbed vehicle going through the channel tunnel where the driver was handling shells 2 hours earlier and nothing showed up

We had a "what were they swabbing for" conversation, as we left the checkpoint. This was the exact time we realised that we'd been handling old shells which the farmers had dug up. We had time to kill so went for a look round the Battlefields of the Somme region of France, before heading back for the tunnel !

I've been re-checking my baggage at Chicago for an onward flight to Denver in the past & pair of skis wrapped in a sheet / in a ski-bag set the explosive trace detector off the scale (like instant red alarm). This was back when you had to remain present when re-checking bags, should the TSA want you to open them up. (They now resort to their master keys / bolt-croppers to open any bag they want).

They had been stored in my parents loft for years - so close to fibreglass insulation and not much else - certainly no explosives. The TSA opened the bag up and did a manual inspection / x-ray search and satisfied themselves they were ski's and nothing more sinister.
